Essay Basics
1. MLA heading and
double spacing/ always has a title
2. 3rd
person literary present/ no “I”, “you”, “me” etc…
3. 5 paragraphs/ 5 –
8 sentences per paragraph
4. 10 vocabulary
words per essay, minimum (any from the entire year).
5. MLA 12 point Times New Roman, double spaced.
6. ALWAYS, always
read entire essay out loud to find errors and redundancy.
7. Hand essay to a
family member (preferably a parent) to simply read it out loud to you, exactly
as it appears on the page. It is
not his/her job to correct it, simply read it, and let you find the errors or
change the wording that you don’t like.
8. Due at 8:00 a.m.
