The Art of Argumentation

Today's history study of the Scholarly Athenians proved that they were learned in the art of rhetoric and argumentation. We put our hand to the task with three rounds of spar debate. Resolutions included: Cats are better pets than dogs. drivers should not be allowed to use the phone while driving, and apples are the most healthy fruit. Scholars had to think on their feet and come up with contentions for each others arguments. They had "permission to think" and we are beginning to stretch that mental muscle to prepare them for a rigorous year. The scholars enjoyed the time spent in forming arguments and will be well practiced in the next few months.

We have decided to shut down the cardboard project in lieu of some other options. Please do not send any more cardboard to school.

If you have not sent in your $5 for NJFL and your signed disclosure, please do so ASAP.

On Friday the sixth grade will be showing respect and appreciation for the military in our assembly. We have decided to put together a thank you basket to present to the servicemen who will be coming. If you would like to send something in for the basket, please talk to your scholar, and send your items in tomorrow or Thursday. Thursday evening I will put together the basket. Thank you.
