It's a Crash Test, Dummy! lol

Today was experimentation with inflating airbags such that there were no reactants left in the bag upon completion of reaction. It took quite a few tries to get the perfect airbag, one that would cushion the blow for the "dummy" (raw egg) and at the same time NOT explode upon impact (see photos). We learned how an actual airbag works in a vehicle or motorcycle (yes, Honda made the first motorcycle airbags), where the censor is located, how it ignites, and explored some of the dangers of side airbags for small children.
