Writing, Writing, Writing.....

Tomorrow is the big day for scholars to prove that they have been diligently working on their research papers over the past two months. They have been taught MLA with proper parenthetical citation and a thorough works cited that should be typed and handed in tomorrow morning. They also have their final draft of their weekly essay due tomorrow.

We covered the introduction to our next geometry unit today and tomorrow the scholars will have a bit of time to start building their 3D geometrical shapes. They will be working with nets in groups, and this math application should prove to be quite interesting when finished....follow the blog to watch our progress!

We will also be finishing up our science unit as the test was moved to next Tuesday. We have been discussing HIV and AIDS, as well as other communicable diseases and the vaccines that most of them have had in order to protect themselves from many such diseases. It has proved to be an interesting discussion.

There are three websites that I shared with the class today and the links are as follows:
Two of them are  science related, having to do with microbes and immunity. The other is math related, having to do with geometry and nets. If your scholar has computer time at home these websites will reinforce learning that is accomplished in the classroom.

Thank you for allowing them to spend some time on these sites to prepare for our NWEA tests that are coming up SOON!

Tomorrow's essay will be the last essay handed in handwritten on loose leaf paper. Starting next week scholars will type all papers that are handed in for Language Arts. I will provide them with a sample that will be placed in their Language Arts Folder. Also starting with this essay due tomorrow, scholars need to use 10 vocabulary words each week, and 4 adverbs per paragraph. They have a complete dictionary of adjectives and adverbs to use.Their writing is developing well, and we want to use these last 6 weeks to make it even more rich.

Tomorrow is our assembly starting the month of Perseverance. Please join us at 10:15 in the gymnasium.

  1. LOVE the new background! I'm going to start posting comments for every new blog post. Also, are there any variations to that detective game? I can't figure it out.
